Well, the new 2X2s showed up today, and I couldn't
wait to get home to try them out, and the new 2X2
solved the problem.

The subject tube was a National Union tube, and if
this unit was never placed in service, the tube had
about 2 hours on it when it failed. Thanks John for
the manual reference. The new 2X2s were actually
RCA 2X2A's.

It just is strange that it picked the time it did
to fail, Murphy's law I suppose.
