[Boatanchors] Re: AR88 Notes - slow qsl.net servers

Hi Sandy,
The problem with qsl.net servers isn't the speed of "us" who want to
download, but the overloaded servers at qsl.net. I have a cable
connection, and have seen 300kbs speeds at times from other sites. I just
tried the AR-88 file again and it started at abt 6kbs, sowoed almost
immediately to less than 2, and it showed an est. 6+ hrs to complete.
There are guys who have done what you suggest, and sell CD's on ebay
with manuals they've downloaded free. Their prices obviously cover more
than time & matl.
I have posted some manuals for download on my own site for people that
have had a problem getting them, that helps if you have a fast connection,
but not if you're among those who suffer with dialup. I'm willing to do
that on a limited basis if I have what's wanted, or even supply on CD,
again on a limited basis.
73,
Al
