Description
DNE Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1951 as Stelma, which specialized
in the design, development and fabrication of data and voice
communications equipment. Located in Stamford, CT, Stelma became the
leader in communication technical control systems and introduced its
first FDM multiplexer in 1966. In 1969, the company was purchased by
Dataproducts Corporation, the largest independent computer printer
company in the world. The company relocated to Wallingford, CT in 1977,
at which point it became Dataproducts New England, and introduced its
first time division multiplexer in 1978. The company was purchased in
1992 by the Alpine Group (AMEX: AGI), a $1 billion global
telecommunications and materials corporation. One year later,
Dataproducts New England officially became DNE Technologies, Inc. In
1996, Alpine combined DNE and another subsidiary, Superior Cable, into a
separate telecommunications company called Superior Telecommunications
(NYSE: SUT).
