It's quit an un-fortunate mistake that the us military feels that
thier HF-DF facilaties is of no futher use.
I fact I feel that it's not needed more than ever.
the FCC surely hasnt the capacity to handle any
large demand to locate HF transmitters when they themselves
are closeing, and/or remoteing controlling, what remains
of thier monitoring posts.

There was an interesting reference made by Klingenfus webpage
to the use of HF by islamic terrorists. and our in-ability to locate
the transmitters because we have dismantled so many HF-DF
facilities.

So now Wullenber, CLASSIC BULLSEYE, AN/FLR-9, AN/FRD-10,
Elephant Cage shall be nothing more than quaint history.
Lets hope in so doing we dont let outselves become
quaint history as well.

Ther'es also the recent events that make the need for locateing HF
transmitters important. that is the interference to
Katrina relief communications on the amateur radios comms
into and out of the disaster area. Quite shamefull.
