Hi,

My $.02 worth about "pickup-only". I've used this one myself on items
that were so large/heavy (like a Hallicrafters HT transmitter or
R-390A receiver etc) that I either knew I couldn't pack well enough to
resist damage by the UPS gorillas, or in a couple cases I didn't feel
were worth the cost/hassle of packing/shipping. (A notable exception
of course is that 'rare', hard to find component needed to get a classic
back on the air or looking 'right').

If a person doesn't feel that they can pack it well enough to survive,
it is far better to insist that it be picked up than to toss it in a box
with a few peanuts and have it destroyed in shipment;. Think of how
often one hears of somebody buying a radio from the "E" place, only to
have it totally destroyed due to poor packing!

But then, there isn't any reason in the world for not shipping a
gazillion small parts, the post office has made it so easy with their
flat rate boxes! If the person is willing to pay the 7.70 for all that
will fit in the box, then go for it.
