[Boatanchors] STUFF - serious suggestion

I have a serious suggestion.
Back in the 60s there was a company called Poly Paks . They sold what
they referred to as "grab bags" of assorted parts
for about 5 or 6 bucks. And also entire circuit boards for HyGain CBs
that werent manufactured anymore (a lot of them ended up being converted
to 10 meters by the way).. and other things like that. I'm sure
some old timers like Glen and others remember them right???
If you have lots of "spare parts" and components .... get some boxes
and put the parts in the boxes in categories ... or even mix them up ...
a little bit of everything in each box. Then let us know ...
generally .. what you have and offer them for postage if nothing
else. Those of us who want a box of two can let you know ... give you
our zip code and address. You can weigh a box and then let us know how
much to ship. If it is gear ... let us know what it is and we
can either make offers... or you can price em .... or worse comes to
worse, you can ship em again for shipping.
There was a ham on the reflector here who did somethng similar and added
that if there were no takers THEN and only then would it go to the
landfill. I got some a nice variable I'm going to use for an antenna
tuner ... I got a VTVM ... a digital mode interface ... and a microphone
. ALL for the price of postage. As an added incentive he said if
anyone wanted to throw in a few extra bucks ... or if there was any
money left over from too much postage sent .. the extra bucks would be
donated to the local radio club.
Generally though... throwing out parts and gear is akin to scrapping a
perfectly good rig ... which has also been announced on here. You
only scrap a good piece of gear that no one is willing to pick up or
have shipped.... such as a dx 100 or similar hulks. HI HI.
