Back when, hams didn't have any fancy meters or worries about
exact impedances...
We just put a 2-gang BC variable in series
with one end of the link to act as a loading control.
For coax output, the frame of the cap was grounded.
Then tune for max on a Rx S-meter or field strength meter.
For balanced line, it was easy to feed output thru 50 ohm coax
to a tuner and let the tuner match the antenna.
