Please join us on this Labor Less Day weekend on Saturday September 3rd for the
HCI 40 meter Net. The question being, how many watts does it take to roast a
hotdog when held to a mono band dipole leg with non-conductive twist ties? For
the really math motivated problem solvers, how many feet from the dipole leg can
you stand while holding the hotdog in the bun and not get RF burns while warming
the bun? Assume 1000 watts continuous carrier on forty meters.
The pre-Net will commence at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC) and the Net proper at 1:00
PM EDT, (1700 UTC). The frequency will be 7.280 MHZ lsb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and the sizzling sound of ... OOPS! Not the neighbor's Siamese cat,
Beachball! Their paranoid Poodle, Puddles, got slow roasted over the fourth of
July. Did not seem to upset them though, they simply skinned, carved and served
him! Don't know what country they are from, but do not think I would like to be
invited for a holiday meal! Especially if I found a Rabbit's foot on my plate!
Hope to hear you tomorrow! So be there and bring a vintage radio tale to tell,
we don't care if it is true, just amusing.
