Phil,

The oil fill ones should be OK.

What electrolytic got put into the power supply, These may need reforming or 
replacing. Most of the other caps should be good.

I have a 6 volt battery radio from the late 1920s with paper and wax caps. In 
its life one has failed and needed to be replaced.

Ohm them out as best you can in circuit. If they are not dead shorts go with 
them. If any are open, they will give you problems. The problem will not 
likely smoke and can be localized and repaired.
