Hi Glenn,
Thank you. that's what I was afraid of (in regards to RTV). Following
your tip I just paid a visit to our local auto parts store to get some
sealer. almost everything out there now seems to be RTV, blue, black or
clear. But Eureka! Permatex DOES make one that they call "Ultra Grey"
that is non corrosive and is "sensor safe". The Permatex part number is
599BR for the 3.5 oz tube (they also had smaller tubes).
And, to prove the point that you made. After writing the first Email, I
disassembled the 2nd Cobrahead. Unlike the first that appeared to have
used some older type of black gasket compound, the second one used clear
RTV. The hardware and coax braid in the first one was as shiny as the
day it was made. In the second Cobrahead the nuts and other hardware
was corroded and the braid was all discolored!
