Thanks for the information on RTV. I have some that I bought at a ham =
fest
that was supposed to be good for antenna work and it is Permatex. This =
is a
brand I would normally associate with automotive work, however, after =
seeing
your advice I read the small print and it releases acetic acid. Looks =
like
the "oxygen sensor safe" specification might "cure" the problem.

"Standard RTV cures by releasing acetic acid. Acid is corrosive to =
metals.=20
No a good choice. If you must seal with RTV use a type that cures with=20
alcohol. This can be had from an auto parts place and is listed as =
oxygen=20
sensor safe. It can also be had from good electronic supply houses.
