Hi,
First, I'm sending this to clarify a few things, and hopefully try to smooth
any feathers that may have been ruffled due to some things that I said. The
LAST thing I want to do is stir the pot or cause any contention between the
list members OR moderators of any list. It ISN'T my style. Al Waller runs a
REALLY GREAT service for the Ham community and I have no desire to see it
damaged in any way.
It all started with trying to make a post of my shortwave loggings to the SWL
reflector. These logging posts are a direct report from my logging program,
and I often get quite verbose in my "Program Details", describing the programs
I listened to in detail. Some of these posts have, in the past been rejected
as SPAM and in each case an Email to the "help" or "Why is my mail bouncing"
Email address turned up the fact that the Email in question was rejected for
"SPECIFIC" words (NOT swear words etc) that made the Email sound either
commercial in nature, OR a scam from certain African countries (how can you
discuss a country's radio programs or programs about a country without naming
the country or nationality?).
It has never happened to me on any mail list OTHER than the SWL list, this
probably because of the wide variety of subjects I post in the "Program
Details" of posted logs. Subjects NOT likely to be discussed on a Boatanchor
or other radio reflector.
Today (yesterday UTC time) it happened again and I got a little exasperated
with it, and posted an Email expressing my exasperation (again, no profanity,
I don't use it). The list moderator took exception with it, feeling that I
was defaming Al and QTH.NET (NOT MY INTENT AT ALL) and apparently at about the
same time his computer was "hacked" when somebody un-named here spoofed his
Email, ran with it and fed the fire even more.
AGAIN, THIS IS A GREAT GROUP OF PEOPLE ON THESE MAIL LISTS AND I OFFER MY
APOLOGIES FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS!
Now, lets get back to the subject at hand, Boatanchors, SWLing or Hammarlund
etc. Consider the case "closed".
