[Boatanchors] GMT vs UTC, when did it change?

Lee,
While I don't know what year it was (I think it may have been a gradual
turnover), I would have to say that if it's a "period" station of ANY
boatanchor gear, GMT would be TOTALLY appropriate. In fact, IF it has
Military Surplus gear (R-390, SP-600 etc, etc) the term "ZULU" would be even
more appropriate as that is what we used in the 20 years I was in the USAF.
I'm sure nearly everyone here has heard the term "Zulu Time".
We always had large clocks throughout the comm. center that were all synced
together and were labeled "Zulu", and even on remote sites where there were
usually only one or two personnel on duty at night, one of the duties of the
Night shift was to set the clock to WWV at the top of the hour (a pushbutton
synced it). Syncing that clock was the PRIMARY reason that we usually had an
SP-600 (or rarely a R-390A) on the Tropo or Microwave relay site. Ahh, how a
simple Email can bring back memories ;-)
