Roger - go for it! These are great old radios. OK, I'm biased because
it was my first SSB rig back in the 60's but it's got really nice
receive audio, an honest 200 watts PEP input, and if you're so inclined
it will even work AM. As we enter the low part of the solar cycle you
won't miss much on the higher bands and if you have another rig I
predict you'll be listening to the NCX-3 just for the nice SSB audio
quality. Oh, and in my opinion it's one of the best looking rigs
styling-wise ever made. National used to even run an ad showing the
underside of the chassis - Boatanchor Art!
Best of all the price is modest, I typically see them for under $100 for
the rig and P/S speaker. But two is enough!
