[Boatanchors] HV fusing in amplifiers

I have seen people take one strand out of AC wire such as an extension cord
and mount it on two terminal strips with the HV going through that. Can't
remember the wire size nor current (seems as if it is # 28 or 30), but they
claimed it worked.
