GM to the list.

I'm in the midst of putting the wraps on restoration of a GLOBE V-10 VFO.
After cooking it in for several hours, new tubes and a few cap and resistor
changes it was ready for re-alignment.

Since none of the components in the oscillator section were altered, it was
time to see if the end points could be set and some degree of linearity
established across the dial. This was not to be! After considerable time was
spent adjusting the inductors and variable caps for each set of bands, it was
apparent the full bandspread couldn't be obtained. Otherwise, the VFO had a
nice, clean and stable output.

I suspect some of the TC caps in the oscillator section are the culprits.
After all, this thing is 40+years young. Here's the question: Where does one
find N-coefficient caps these days? In particular, those rated at N750 and
N330k................... The remaining caps are NPO and seem to be readily
available via MOUSER or equivalent. Are there new (modern) N-coefficient caps
around that carry a different designation than I'm accustomed to?

I can always align the thing to its best settings and just "zero beat" but I
really wanted the dial to track closely if possible.

Anyone have thoughts, suggestions or ideas on where the N-types could be
found?

I appreciate your assistance.
