[Boatanchors] Talk to me about National NC-188

Hi,

I 'may' have a line on a National NC-188 receiver in nice condition.

Here's what I know about it.
1. General Coverage .53-40MC, 9 tubes.
2. Single Conversion 455KC IF (and it's drawbacks).
3. Fixed selectivity (I.E. No Xtal Filter, notch filter etc).

QUESTIONS:
1. Do these sets make a fairly decent SWL set within their selectivity/Image
response limits)?
2. Is the tuning smooth and easy and AM stability pretty decent?
3. Finally, Are they a "Keeper" if you wanted "ONE" modest boatanchor to
augment more modern gear?
