I refinished the front panel on my SP-600 and replaced some caps ....YES,
it's worth bringing back to life. Great unit ! I prefer it over the 
R-390A because of the smooth tuning. It's a keeper ! Best SW receiver I
have ever owned. The R-390A, although somewhat better
selectivity/sensitivity (worse audio), is designed to go to a designated
frequency and listen.

It's worth redong just for the audio quality for SWL.
Got a SX 73 that does a great job for that. Very similar to the SP 600
too.
Very few people will part with a SP 600.
Go for it!
