[Boatanchors] BC-474-A conversion: looking for info

I acquired a BC-474-A case with a remarkable conversion inside it.

The receiver section appears to be original, but has been retubed as
follows:
  1N5 => 6K7
  1A7 => 6A8
  3A8 => 6K8 (!)
  1D8 => 6SN7 (!)

The 6SN7 is being used a diode/triode. There is no 2nd audio stage. I
don't see where the audio output goes.

The transmitter section has the original output components, but
socketing is for something with a plate cap (2E26/6146?). The original
VFO isn't there, but there's a 6AQ5. I don't see a crystal socket or
tuning components associated with a VFO.

There is no modulator section. There is a key jack on the front panel
that may be intended for CW keying.

Clearly this is a work-in-progress. Neither the framework nor the
chassis appear to be military (too light). But equally clearly the guts
of a BC-474 are lurking in there.

Wondered whether anyone recalls a published conversion for the BC-474
that ran along these lines. Any information would be appreciated.
