Oh, William,

I am really surprised that you would ask such a question.

As you know, propagation depends on the strength of the Tx signal, the
direction and gain of the Tx and Rx antennas, the frequency, the kind of
propagation - sky, ground, etc - and the sensitivity of the Rx. What is put in TMs
is an extremely rough indication of whether the item is for forward oinks reccy,
land-based artillery to observer, forward to base, base to air, etc. The quality of
training and operational condition of the comms equipment is also a very big factor.

To get down to differences between imperial and nautical miles is, well, a hoot.
