Hi,

This is forwarded from the NDB (Beacon) mail list. Since I believe there are
probably some old ops on this list I thought it might be of interest.

Fellow Enthusiasts:

Here's an early alert that Night of Nights will be upon us in about a
month.

On July 12 every year KPH resumes operation x number of years and one
minute after commercial Morse officially ended in the US. This year
x = 6. At that moment we symbolically pick up the thread of
commercial maritime Morse in the US and by so doing commemorate all
the men and women, ashore and afloat, who made the profession of
radiotelegrapher one of honor and skill.

We are refining our list of working and calling frequencies and
working on transmitters and antennas in preparation for the great
event. Full information will be sent in the "official" announcement
in a couple of weeks.

But at this point I can give you this very interesting bit of
information: four additional US stations (including two Coast Guard
stations!) may join KPH for NofN VI. And as many as three of those
stations may be active on MF! QRM on 500kc? We fought it in the old
days. Now we yearn to hear it. Maybe it will happen.

VY 73,

RD
