Please join us on Sunday July 31st for the Hallicrafters Collectors
International 20 meter Net. Bring a friend to impress with your vintage gears
'real radio' performance as it bounces a signal off the D layer of the
Ionosphere like a well placed cushion bank shot by Pool legend Minnesota Fats
right into the corner pocket.
If he is also a Ham, or even a SW buff, let him slobber on his shorts in
unrestrained lust as that vintage rig cuts through the QRM like a freshly
sharpened gourmet chef's double sided 24 inch alloy hardened stainless steel
carving knife and selectivity speaking, puts a silencing cork in the mouths of
adjacent stations splattering the band like half a dozen little children in a
wading pool splashing the chlorinated water over the top like baby tidal waves
and killing all vegetation within a twenty foot radius!
Now if that is not enough to get their juices jumping like they had their
underwear full of Mexican Jumping Beans, just let them be. They probably died
some minutes earlier from the traumatic shock of seeing 'real' vacuum tubes lit
up and issue forth a glow that you did not even have to lick the numbers off the
faces of those old watches they painted with Radium to get that ghostly greenish
glow that made a Halloween ghoul grin!
The pre-Net will commence at 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC), with no howling, moaning
or pathetic Pea shooter pot shots at the pot bellied Cumulus clouds who can't
seem to get the Lead Tetraethyl out of their Stratus Nimbus Rumpus! Move it! We
don't care if it is swamp fog, freeway smog, acid rain or hailstones bouncing
off the head pain! Let the propagation pass, as we have had more than enough
solar gas, so flush the flux, clear that 20 meter path and let the modulation
begin!
The Net proper will begin at 1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). If my designated relay
stations: K0EJF, Jerry in Colorado, KG4KZG, Dale in Florida and K7JX, Casey in
Washington are not present, well at least one of them, Frogzilla will be ringing
your chimes to get your attention, which your alarm clock apparently had no
success in doing! Now as to what 'chimes' Frogzilla rings, who knows what sparks
leap between the gaps of his lily pad green neurons? He has a bad habit of
biting coax in half and using it for dental floss and defeating the brakes in
the rotor then watching the antenna spin like a Merry-Go-Round with a stuck
throttle! You will know that Frogzilla has rung your Ham iii rotator chime when
all of a sudden your radio gear starts being yanked off the desk, pulled right
through the Ham Shack wall and up up the tower it goes and away into the wild
blue yonder! So Jerry, Dale and Casey, please ring your own chimes, roll those
buns out of the bed sheet wrapper, fuel up with half a dozen cups of 'real'
coffee that make your kidneys work like a fire engine pumper truck and be there
when the old blind dude needs ya!
As for the rest of you, the frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks,
mike splatter and somebody in the faint far distance shouting something about an
amphibian as large as a ten gallon picnic drink cooler, ripping his legs off and
throwing them into the Alligator Alley State Park and tossing a small ASPCA
approved appetite stimulant grenade into the hammocks where the big Gators were
snoring and shouting "Breakfast is served, get your fresh Frogzilla legs!"
I hope to hear a lot of you later on today, so be there and let's light those
tubes up, reform some capacitors(as most of us are beyond being reformed!) and
share some fun, fellowship, facts, fix it tips, learn what you have to sell,
what you want to buy and much more.
Remember: only the first 100 copies of the special historical Halligan video on
DVD and the first 100 two CD set of rare audio interviews of Bill, Hallicrafters
Engineer Fritz Franke and much much more, (write me for complete details of
contents) will be certified! All advance orders must be pre-paid. All copies,
certified and not, will ship in September. The DVD and two CD set postpaid is
$43, postage varies depending on the country. (The contents of the DVD and the
two CD set are 'totally' different!)
