Outstanding response!!! I agree with you 100%. I'm 53 years old, was licenesed over 25 years ago, and love code. However, listening across the ham bands (on SSB), the major topic seem (frequently) to be health issues (who is sick, when I go to the doctor next). The average age of US hams is getting up. We need some fresh blood to carry this hobby on for years to come. I still think it is magical to listen to some shortwave station for some exotic place. I think that with kids brought up on the internet and cell phones, that is mostly gone. 

But, this hobby needs some fresh thinking to survive. I think that the ARRL is behind the digital revelotion that is upon us, but they are supporting majority of the active hams. We need to support new ideas, and new modes of communication.
