Hi All,

Just bought a Knight TR106 6-metre AM RX/TX on eBay which has been converted
to run on the UK "Four" metre band, 70-70.5 Mc. My question is, is anyone
aware of whether Knight marketed these in the UK?

I'm guessing these rigs are about the same vintage as the Heath HW-17 and
the Hallicrafters SR-42, as the manual on BAMA is dated 1966? Those rigs
were sold here (for Two metres, the SR-46 didn't show up) but at that time
the UK didn't have Six, that band wasn't returned to us until '86. A company
called Electroniques (part of STC) sold Knight Kits over here, I've a 1967
catalogue of theirs but the ham gear in it is just SW receivers, the rest is
HIFI and test gear.

Anyway, any info appreciated that might help me pinpoint who did the mods.
AM is undergoing a bit of a revival on the VHF ham bands so I guess I'll
keep the TR106 on "Four" to work the old wartime B44s and ancient PMR gear
people are dusting off and firing-up!

TIA,

Roger Basford, G3VKM.
