Once again. On the original internet we had nothing but communications
keyboards in
use (All Caps). Mostly in use were various models of teletype machines. The
typewriters
of that era and use were also communications keyboards with no lower case.
It was an
upper case world when it came to communications via keyboard or for radio
logs and
messages.
Just like the rest of the world today someone has a brilliant idea who knows
little of
the history of the area in question and gets it broad acceptance by others
who know as
much or less than the "originator". History suffers as usual.
I work with it every day and both myself and many others will cheer the day
I get to retire.
Can't happen soon enough. By the way it does not mean I cannot follow rules,
conventions
or suggestions. I can. I suspect that some of those who come up with new
conventions, rules,
new acronyms and or ideas cannot. Upper case is shouting. Isn't that
special?
What was wrong with Kcs, Mcs and what not? I suspect a relative of Hertz had
a better idea.
But wasn't a "better idea" a Ford slogan? Wasn't Cycle, Kilocycle and
Megacycle so meaningful
and simple to comprehend.

Does anyone know who started that ridiculous idea about capital letters
anyway?
There are also other sides to this silly thing about shouting being the use
of capital letters.
