[Boatanchors] BC-1004, IT LIVES!

Hi,

Well, I peeked under the PS chassis, all the resistors had been replaced
with nice, new, large, white, ceramic units. It was the 80 Bias
rectifier that was "Siliconized", not the 5Z3.

It has Paper/Oil capacitors, so I brought it up with a Variac quite a
bit quicker than I otherwise would. A matter of hours instead of days.
This gave me a chance to check various PS Voltages as it came up and see
if they seemed to be in fairly close tolerance to their expected
"ratios" (I.E. Screens, plate, bias etc). They did.

HOWEVER, when I reached full Voltage, the set played, but was extremely
weak on the local BCB station. Screwdriver thumping the tubes with the
volume up all the way about blew my eardrums out when I tapped the first
IF amplifier, a 6K7 that had tested good on the borrowed TV-7 checker
8^( Subsequent tapping caused the set to cut in and out. So, I replaced
that one with a spare 6K7 that I had here.

The set is playing like gangbusters now, at least on the BCB. The
shortwave ranges also have "life" but appear to be out of calibration.

I'll "cook" it a couple days as it sits and then do a complete alignment
of the set before burning it in again and returning it to it's rightful
owner.

Are they all that stiff to turn the bandswitch? I lubed it while I had
it open, but it's still quite stiff.
