[Boatanchors] BA's and 3-wire cords

Seems  I remember a thread on the replacement of old 2-wire
AC cords on our old classics. I have done so on my Drake and
Heath ham gear and on one of my VTVM's but the question is
in regard to an old Heathkit SIG GEN from the 1950's which
has a habit of biting me.

Is there any situation when it would not be advisable to use
the 3-wire cord on test equipment or ham gear?
