Steve: I have a little data. The MCL series are rated for up to 25 watts
input stages, and the link is over the center of the coil, with 5 pin base.
The JVL's have a link with a variable position, and are meant for stages up
to 75 watts input. 5 Pin base also. Do not have the actual coil specs, but I
am sure you could reverse engineer by seeing what size miniductor fits on
the form that supplied the necessary inductance. 50's vintage Handbooks have
this data. What is supplied in my catalog:
80 MCL: 40 microH, 50 pf resonates it on low end of 80
40 MCL: 14 microH, 35 pf for low end of 40
20 NCL: 3.5 microH, 35 pf for low end of 20
For the JVL series, no inductance is given, only the capacitance to resonate
on the low end of the associated ham band.
80 JVL: 46pf
40 JVL: 31pf
20 JVL: 21pf
In 1953, the MCL's cost $1.26 and the JVL's cost $1.65

Subject: [Boatanchors] B&W coils
Hi all:
Have some 'sad' B&W coils in my 1948 rack rig I'm restoring.
The rig uses both the B&W "MCL" and B&W "JVL" plug in style.
Might anyone have:
1. spec data on the 80, 40 and 20 meter units? for me to duplicate.
2. actual coils for sale?
Tnx,
Steve
