[Boatanchors] Crystal Synthesizer

>From Joe,w5jdy in Okla... Recently I traded for some old radio gear and
included in the batch was a Johnson Messenger CB Model #223 tube and
transistor type... I brought it up slow on a variac and behold everything
came alive and worked perfectly,I thought, until I noticed some of the
channels were off frequency... I found a schematic and after measuring the
frequency of some of the different crystals in the crystal synthesizer I
noticed some of them were off frequency as much as
10 to 15 kilocycles... .. The 2 worse crystals that will have to be
changed are: 32.700mc and 32.900mc although there are others that are off...
If someone has a junker 223 Messenger or any other crystalplex CB that the
first and only IF is 455kc and has those two crystals in the
synthesizer, odds are all the rest are the same as the one I have... It
doesn't have to be a Johnson just has to be a CB with only one IF frequency
of 455kc... This CB is a really good working rig and I would like to add
it to my collection.. I have found a source for the crystals but the seller
wants over $12.00 apiece plus shipping.. I cannot afford to put that much
in it at this time... If I can find an old mobile or a junker with the same
crystals I will gladly pay any fair price plus shipping to Okla. 73069..
As always Thanks for your time and have a nice weekend... Joe w5jdy
