Thanks to all of youse guys (as they say in Pittsburgh...) that responded.
I got the article.

I emailed it to my friend that's also building the radio, and he responded:

"There was a much later article on this transmitter in which the author
added an additional buffer stage to reduce oscillator chirp.  I had a
Xerox copy, but I can't find it. "

Anyone have any knowledge about this?
