It has been my experience that the Hammarlund HQ-100,
HQ-110, HQ-160, H-170, and HQ-180 series tend to be
very drifty, especially above 14 MHz. The series that
started with the HQ-120, then the HQ-129X, HQ-140X,
HQ-150, and finally the HQ-145 are much more stable
than the other series receivers. Most of the
Super-Pro receivers that I have been around are also
pretty drifty above 14 MHz.
The Hallicrafters SX-100 isn't too bad after a warm
up. But, the HQ-140X beats it "hands down". Of
course we are not comparing any of these with a
Collins "A" Line. The Collins receivers are going to
leave both Hallicrafters and Hammarlund eating their
dust.

A less pricey mate for the 90A could be an HQ110/A. I
have had several in the past and found them to be good
receivers. I never really had much in the way of drift
problems with them but have heard others describe them
as drifty.
