I used a Hallicrafters S-107 with my original Globe
Chief 90A as a Novice. Then "up graded" to a
Hallicrafters S-85. The SX-99 was also a popular
receiver that was used with the Globe Chief 90A.

You need a WRL 755 or 755A VFO to go along with the
transmitter. Then, if you are really lucky, you might
find a WRL SM-90 screen modulator that was made
especially for the Globe Chief series.

The original station that I used when I first upgraded
from Novice in 1959 was the Globe Chief 90A, S-107,
WRL 755 VFO, and the SM-90 screen modulator. I have
been able to obtain all items to re-create my 1959
station. The SM-90 was very difficult to find until I
ran across one on eBay that was posted as a microphone
preamplifier. No one else bid on it so I got it for
$9.99. There are some photographs of my re-creation
on the K9STH website the URL of which is listed at the
end of this message.

What I need to know is, what receiver would be
appropriate for the Globe? Something that would be of
the same age category.
