[Boatanchors] Off-topic assistance?

All: I have an off-topic issue I'd appreciate some help with, if you can
bear with me.

I am having to repair the AM radio in my truck.  I recall that the mfrs.
used to put a small cap in series with the feedline at the radio end, but I
haven't a clue what the value ought to be.  I'm viewing this as a capacitive
divider, and the cap should be roughly equal to the feedline capacitance;
however, this reasoning may be flawed.

Any comments or thoughts here?
