[Boatanchors] What VLF/LF Boatanchors are "affordable"

To add to the Standby AI in transport A/C it is invariably located in or
near the center of the panel and not in a true position of the "T" scan.

In a Simulator on a check ride you can remove all of the wind out of the
sails of a cocky no it all just by having major electrical failure and
reverting to Basic airmanship.
You can make a grown man become a whimpering mess in about 2 minutes.
In real life that is a tough call if you get to that point and have to
fly the standby AI in IMC for any length of time you will be praying
for VFR.

To me any any one that flys IMC in single engine other than for a TO or
short approach with no any known icing is about to buy the farm, auto
pilot or not.

I do not feel that any pilot is really going to be comfortable in FULL
IMC until he has 300 to 500 hours on the gauges in a plane fully
equipped to be there and with co-pilot. Single pilot IMC is a load on
any pilot.

Over 20,000 logged hours for pay and 20 some type ratings through B-747.
