I too, admire Brian Harris' setups. Quality heavy duty adjustable shelving,
such as Brian's, is available and will support quite a bit of weight when
properly installed. The problem with the typical "Home Depot" systems is the thin
gauge steel used for the uprights. The uprights fail below the top slot used
by the bracket as it peels open.
If I were to do what Brian did, and had the equipment you're proposing to
place on the shelves, I'd look into commercial merchandishing shelves. Take a
look at the shelves used to display equipment at better audio/electronic stores.
Though pricy, they are very attractive and much stronger than home bookshelf
systems.
