Dee et al,
I also have one of these counters, WITH the optional internal high
accuracy timebase, in fairly nice condition. It also makes for a nice
source of accurate time base OUTPUTS in decade steps from 1CPS to 10MC.
With a plug-in installed, it's a pretty heavy puppy to lug around
I'm ALSO lucky to have the following plug-ins for it. All work too!
1. HP 5253B Frequency converter, takes it up to 500MC with no loss of
accuracy.
2. 5258A High Sensitivity Prescaler, takes it up to 200MC with better
than 1mV sensitivity.
3. I was also offered the Time Interval plug-in, but didn't take it as
I couldn't conceive of any use for it.
If you have one of these counters it is well worthwhile to make an
attempt to locate these plug-ins.
I can still remember the first time I saw one of these in the USAF in
the '60s. Even with the clumsiness of using the Frequency Converters (a
little math involved), it was so much MORE accurate and easy to use than
the old LM frequency meters for checking out our tropo gear, it was a
DREAM come true!
