Be careful using the "dry" cycle of a dishwasher.  I have seen more than 
a few variable capacitors with ceramic end plates completely destroyed.  
The only explanation I could come up with is the ceramic absorbs some 
water, (especially if the "wax" applied after manufacture has worn off, 
melted off, etc.)  Then the very high heat of the dishwasher heater 
element causes that water to expand, violently, leaving many small bits 
of ceramic in the bottom of the dishwasher.
