Fellows,

Some good old soap and water works wonders.
An air compressor or hair dryer to blow out some of the excess water will 
help.
Watch what kind of soap you use. Some stuff will take the paint, and stamped 
ink markings off also. Simple Green will get most of what's in there out.
Honest a real good bath out in the yard, just like you do the dog.

Then let it dry for a week. (OK a day or two)

Mobil Synthetic Motor Oil 30 weight has become the lubricant of choice to 
re-lube with.

The military process was, spray in some soapy water on a small area. Work it 
with a 1/2 or 1 inch paint brush. Flush it with a spray bottle of clean water. 
Blow dry with the air line and repeat on the next small area.
