I received the final version of the HCI special event commemorative certificate
late yesterday and the graphic guys, W5JT, Jim Thayer and K0TLG, Tom Guntzel,
did a spectacular job! It features nine photos that are beautifully framed with
a easy to read text overlay in special fonts for a very professional appearance.

I will not tell you anymore details! Wait until you receive yours and enjoy the
surprises these guys came up with. Looks darn nice on my Shack wall, even if a
blind man says so! Pretty good looking dude by that modified custom hot rod
there also, wonder who he is?
Remember, you must mail in a ready to use address label, that is all. A QSL will
be appreciated, but is 'not' mandatory. (Some of you owe me one anyhow, so here
is your chance to make good and get a bonus too!) You may send postage or a
monetary donation to help defray costs, 'if' desired, it is not mandatory. Do
not send a SASE! A special size envelope is being used, along with heavy
cardboard, in the hopes of keeping the certificate from being folded by the
postal system. This is on high gloss photographic paper and is definitely
suitable for framing. Each certificate is personalized with the participant's
name, call sign (if applicable, as some who are not licensed hams participated
also), City, State, country (if other than the United States), time in UTC and
RST.

This is a one time event using the Halligan's Hallicrafters club call sign of
W9WZE and will 'never' be issued again! Do not miss out!

The purpose of the special event was to commemorate my 1000th consecutive Net as
the NCS. I have been told by some that this may well be a record, but who knows.
It is one heck of a lot of times at the operating desk every weekend for over
seven years and a lot of mileage on my rump in that well padded NCS control
chair! It has been a great experience and truly a honor to make the utility
companies electrical power meter spin all of those Saturdays and Sundays as we
all makde those wonders that still go glow in the dark show the world one more
time what a 'real' radio was. A pure pleasure for me to meet so many thousands
of you on the air and make innumerable numbers of wonderful friends while
providing a forum for help of all different kinds to be dispensed by many of you
to others of you in need. Perhaps even more, providing an electronic meeting
place where we could all gather and share from the incredible collective pool of
wisdom and form friendships that will keep the spirit of radio alive for another
century, maybe more.

Please get busy and mail in your ready to use address label ASAP, if you have
not already done so. Send it to:

Thank you for participating! It was fun, despite the QRM, band so long the first
bounce was just this side of the Mars moon known as Phobos and old Sol belching
some solar gas so as to not be left out of the Special Event. Hey! If I am alive
and still the NCS, you still have operating vintage gear and the planet is still
intact and populated by humans, we will do it again when HCI Net 2000 happens,
consecutive or not. Heck, I just might take a day off sometime!
