The mention of Koi fish reminded me of a story, totally unrelated to
radios but it seems topical er ah tropical? If not interested, use the
delete key now.

What's in a name?
"Our Nigger"

I live in Harbor Bluffs, Florida about 5 miles from where Terri Schiavo
made the world stage. This is unincorporated Pinellas County. Most homes
were built in the early 1960's and most occupants were retired upper
middle class white people. We do have one black man living here, Jeff J.
who is the nicest person you could want to meet.

Any way we have a person down the road from me who had a fish pond which
he stocked with Koi. The neighbor put up some sort of a hanging plant
arbor and the fish owner got mad that it blocked the sunlight from his
Koi pond. All sorts of law suits evolved to include suing the Owners
Association officers. It got very nasty.

I was at our annual association meeting and while standing outside,
waiting for it to start, several guys were talking about "Our nigger did
this and Our nigger did that. Finally I spoke up and said I did not
think we should be referring to Jeff J as "our nigger!" They looked at
me in amazement and asked who is Jeff J?

It turns out they were talking about the owner of the Koi fish whose
name was Randy Arnegar, from New Jersey. Arnegar was the instigator of
all the law suits. Now try saying "Arnegar" with a southern accent.
