[Boatanchors] Re ARC-38A tech info

    G'day group....... somewhere, someone must have had the unenviable
job
    of resetting/repairing the  mechanical autopositioner assembly for
the
    SMO  and associated tuning rack on the godforsaken ARC-38A.
    If that person is still with us and allowed out on weekends,
he/she
    might like to present me with a  coherent account of how it was
done.
    I don't think I've met a more  recalcitrant  piece of radio  but I
    stand to be corrected.
    Any assistance to help in the enquiry will be treated with the
respect
    it deserves.. I do have a manual which is silent on the important
    bits.
