[Boatanchors] having problems with access to the reflector

Clive,

Apparently you are not receiving my mail, as I have sent you responses about
this issue. Hence, I will post it here in the hopes you are able to read it.

I have confered with system owner, Al Waller, K3TKJ and he advises there is
nothing wrong on the QTH.NET end of things. You are subscribed. The problem is
on your end Clive. Probably your ISP is seeing mail from QTH.NET as spam. This
is something you need to contact your ISP about and resolve. There is nothing
either Al or I can do for you Clive.

Do 'NOT' put the word "test" in your subject field! Many filters now consider
this as spam and kill the post. This is another trick used by spammers to sneak
past security systems. Use a different phrase.

However, it is 'not' necessary to send test posts most of the time Clive. If you
are receiving mail on a given list, then you can probably send it also. This
assumes you are not making the classic mistake some users make of being
subscribed with one address and trying to post from a different one. That will
not work!

If you are not receiving any posts on a list, then go to the 'mailman' web site
and check to see if you are subscribed to this list. If your system, or your
ISP, is down for about 72 hours in a row, the 'mailman' software removes you
from 'ALL' QTH.NET lists automatically. Hence, you may need to resubscribe.

You may have been trying to post in a format that is not acceptalbe, such as
HTML and/or multi-part alternative (mixed). You need to send your messages in
'plain text'! Depending on what your mail client is, this can be selected from
the menus in the mail client itself. Normally the default setting is 'HTML'.
Simply uncheck it and check 'plain text'

Once in a while the cause of an issue is indeed QTH.NET, but this is very
seldom! Generally it is an error or incorrect setting by the user or ISP having
a problem. Befor epressing the panic button, call your ISP and press them for
the truth. Most will try to tell you everything is just fine and they are not
having any mail problems of any kind. Press them for the real story! They will
try to pass the blame off to you for having your mail client software settings
improperly set, and it may be true. However, from my own experience with this
situation, it is more than likely their mail server is down. Depending on what
the issue is, it may affect all Internet access, can not log on at all, just
outbound mail or jus tincoming mail. You can still receive mail when you can not
send it. So press them for the facts as to what is going on at a given time. Be
specific about your issue Clive and try to be polite. I know it is frustrating,
but giving the so called software support engineers a hard time solves nothing.

Because I am reading this post on the Boat Anchors list, whatever was not
working, is now working.

Let me know how I may assist you.

Be well my friend -

Good evening gentlemen,
I am having considerable difficulty in accessing the reflector and all of my
traffic seems to be rejected for some reason.
Thanks for letting me try to get in.
regards,

Clive GW3WEQ
