 I'll throw in one more - the Racal RA-17(*) is a wonderful receiver 
with an entirely different approach to tuning.. Instead of a band 
selector, the receiver utilizes a preselector of sorts and has a 'film 
strip' main tuning dial which tunes past a fixed fiducial. Extremely 
sensitive, stable, and fun to use. Think of it as the british take on 
the R-390, although it was actually meant to compete with the R-388 
initially. The dial escutcheon bears a strong resemblance, too.
