[Boatanchors] BC-342N Xtal Filter, anybody have one?

Hi All,
In troubleshooting why the Xtal phasing in this BC-342 isn't working
properly (NO effect on selectivity, ONLY sensitivity) I carefully removed
the Xtal today. I had tried once before to carefully open the Xtal to
clean/examine it, but it was very well sealed. (The IF appears to be
aligned dead on 470 KC and I can't find an Xtal peak anywhere)
However, as it isn't working I figured something HAD to be done. I took a
knife and very carefully removed all the varnish etc from the edges, screw
heads etc. It then came apart quite easily! Being very careful in the
dis-assembly I then cleaned EVERTHING, Xtal, metal plates etc with some
Freon TF that I've been hoarding for just such critical jobs (leaves no
residue).
Then I examined the Xtal element under the glass before re-assembling it. I
was dismayed to see a couple chips in the edges where the side meets the
face! Hoping that wouldn't effect operation I gently reassembled the unit,
snugged up the screws and coated the entire thing with some Polyurethane to
seal it back up.
After "cooking" it under the desk lamp I reinstalled the Xtal into the
filter unit and tested it. No change what-so-ever! The Xtal appears to be
dead as a doornail. I suspect that those chips may be the cause. I'm
certain they were there before I opened it as I was very careful every step
of the way, knowing that these things aren't something you're going to buy
at RadioShack.
At this point it appears that replacement is the only option. Does anybody
have either the 470KC Xtal (unusual Xtal package) OR the COMPLETE Xtal
filter assembly from a BC-342 OR BC-312 parts receiver? If so, let me know
how much you want for it, shipped to 95348 (California) so that I can budget
for it.
