[Boatanchors] NC-300 LO problem, thanks all!

Hi,
The other day I posted a question concerning a National NC-300 receiver I
was repairing for a friend. Even though parts all tested good and/or were
replaced the First LO (VFO) refused to oscillate. I did everything under
the sun to it including tightening/cleaning the hardware etc. The LO is
still deader than a doornail and today I threw in the towel and took it back
to it's owner. After close to 50 years it's rare that I can't find the
problem in a receiver, especially when it's been isolated to a specific
area.

I even received an email from a gentleman who told me that a number of years
ago he had an NC-300 with an identical problem. After working on it
extensively he finally threw up his hands in disgust and GAVE it to somebody
in California. He then wondered if perhaps this could be the same
receiver??
