Keep your fingers "crossed" but don't hold your
breath! The 755 is pretty scarce but not rare. The
755A is a little more common, but not that much.
It took me several years to find a 755 at a price that
I was willing to pay to re-create my upgrade to
General from Novice station in November of 1959.
Now, if you are really looking for something that can
be considered to be rare, try looking for the SM-90
screen modulator that was built for the Globe Chief 90
and Globe Chief 90A! I really "lucked up" and found
one of these on eBay that had been misidentified. I
got it for the minimum bid of $10. However, when it
arrived I found that it could never have worked. The
unit uses a printed circuit board and whoever had
built the kit cut off every component lead 1/4 inch
longer than it was necessary and then put a small
"blob" of solder on the very end of the wires! There
was no connection to the circuit board at all! Same
thing on the tube sockets and the power connectors!
But, it was a rare item and for $10 I couldn't gripe.
Also, the person I got it from offered to return my
money. But, I told him that I was still satisfied.
Had to clean 45 years of corrosion off of the board
and they solder everything. Works fine!
