My favorite SWL receiver is an EH Scott SLR12-B, which I have completely
restored. It does an excellent job. As far as I know, there are only minor
differences between the RBO & SLR, such as placement of some components, such as the
power supply filters. The RBO has a tuning lock which the SLR does not. These
rcvrs were shielded so that German U-Boats couldn't home in on the radiation
of the local oscillator. SLR stands for Super Low Radiation. I run my SLR with
the chassis slid out of the cabinet a little bit because they were pretty
stingy with the ventilation louvres. The RBO is USN, and the SLR was used by the
Merchant Marine during WWII. With 6V6's in push pull, the audio is unsurpassed
in a SW RCVR.

There! Now you probably know more than you wanted to about these fine RCVRs.
