This is the route I plan to go next time. I've tried the AES lacquer 
stick, what a pos. It's miserable to get into the engraving and it's a 
pain to get the excess clouding off knobs and such after scrubbing to 
get it to fill the engraving. And it never seems to harden worth a damn.

I've heard of people using WhiteOut for this but my experiences in using 
the stuff as intended seem to indicate it is porous and might discolor 
later as a result.

Hank, what kind of results have you had with cleaning the panel 
aftwerwards? Just curious about letting it set up long enough so it 
doesn't pull out of the engraving while cleaning off the excess. I was 
thinking a small rubber squeegie might work well for removing it if the 
panel is smooth. That way after it sets up a bit you could wipe down the 
entire panel.
