[Boatanchors] the rub : Engraved Letters & Wrinkled Enamel

One "trick" that I have heard of is to fill the
letters with wax before even putting on the primer
coat. You have to use lacquer thinner or some other
solvent to remove the wax from the surface of the
panel other than the letters before painting.

Another "trick" is to use a lacquer stick and fill the
letters before applying the primer. You again use
some type of solvent to remove the residue from the
area to be painted.

After painting, you then use a very sharp "probe" of
some type (or a long sewing needle) to remove the
final paint from the lettering.

Any good ideas about filling letters on wrinkled
enamel panels?

Or how about even exposing the letters after painting
the wrinkle finish?
