I know of no WW II radio sets that made use of a burst transmitter. To
the best of my knowledge the first burst transmitters were the military
version of the RS 1 set, the AN/GRC 109 sets and several Russian sets.
The GRC 109 set used the AN/GRC 71 code burst transmitter. This was in
the 1960's so one can assume there were experiments done in the late
1950s. I think the advent of magnetic recording tape made burst
transmission possible. I am not certain how reliable the WW II era wire
recorders were.
